Adobo Records is a boutique music label focused on promoting and developing unsigned music artists. Leveraging a strong foundation in social media promotion, website development, and music curation, we aim to build a sustainable business model that benefits both our artists and the company. By combining our core competencies with a deep passion for music, we seek to create a platform for emerging talent to thrive.
Why Adobo?
As with naming any business or musical group, giving it the proper label by which it will ever be known it’s a daunting challenge. It must be unique, but also relevant in some way to the name. Well, that’s in the case of a business. But with a musical group that is often decided by committee, frequently a consensus is never reached and the last name mentioned ends up being the brand by default.
You may ask, “Why Adobo? What’s the reason for that name?”
In our search for a fitting and proper name, we began with a single basic assumption, “Music is the spice of life.”
But what kind of spice would be the most befitting? Oregano? No. Garlic? Hell, no. Parsley? No, too light. We want a spice, not a garnish. Something with a little zing. Habanero? Too obvious, and too bludgeoning to the senses. How about a blend of spices, like Curry? Too ethnic.
What about Adobo? Heyyy……
Although the Adobo spice blend has a certain level of ethnicity to it, being primarily Latin in origin, it is employed and enjoyed by many cultures. Look at it, Adobo is traditionally a unique blend of garlic powder, oregano, Kosher salt, black pepper, and turmeric.
Well, our record company catalog is likewise a unique blend of artists and their artistic styles. To celebrate that uniqueness even further, there is not one universally-agreed recipe for the Adobo spice.
